A bold and experimental variant of Germany’s famed Fw 190 fighter, the Fw 190W-2 was designed as a floatplane version intended for naval operations.
Retaining the aggressive lines and formidable firepower of the original Fw 190A-series, this unique prototype was fitted with large twin floats in place of its standard landing gear, enabling it to take off and land on water.
Developed in response to the Luftwaffe’s interest in expanding fighter operations from remote or undeveloped locations without airfields, the Fw 190W-2 promised high performance and rugged reliability in a seaplane configuration.
Despite successful ground and taxi tests, the project was ultimately cancelled before reaching full production, with only a handful of test models completed.
The Fw 190W-2 remains one of the more fascinating "what-if" chapters of World War II aviation, blending innovation with the raw combat power of one of the era’s best fighters.
This model captures the striking appearance of the float-equipped warbird, perfect for enthusiasts of rare and experimental aircraft.
