The Iltis 0.5-ton Light Truck with AT Milan Missile System represents a highly mobile anti-tank platform developed to support infantry and light mechanised units.
Based on the proven Volkswagen Iltis 4x4 utility vehicle, this configuration combines excellent cross-country mobility with effective anti-armour firepower.
Designed for rapid deployment and flexible battlefield use, the vehicle is equipped with the MILAN missile system (Missile d’Infanterie Léger Antichar), a wire-guided anti-tank guided missile system renowned for its accuracy and effectiveness against armoured targets.
The launcher can be operated directly from the vehicle or quickly dismounted, allowing crews to engage targets while maintaining tactical mobility.
The Iltis platform offers a compact profile, robust suspension, and reliable four-wheel-drive performance, making it well suited for reconnaissance, defensive anti-tank roles, and rapid reaction forces.
Onboard stowage allows for the transport of additional missiles and crew equipment, supporting sustained operations in the field.
This variant highlights the adaptability of light utility vehicles in Cold War–era military doctrine, where speed, concealment, and precision firepower were critical to countering armoured threats.
