The Alvis Stalwart Mk.2 Limber is a specialised trailer designed to operate alongside the famous Stalwart amphibious load carrier, extending its logistical capability in challenging terrain.

Built to the same rugged military standards as the vehicle itself, the limber was used to transport additional supplies, ammunition, or equipment in support roles.

Developed by Alvis, the Mk.2 Limber was engineered for cross-country mobility, featuring large balloon tyres and a robust suspension system that allowed it to keep pace with the Stalwart over mud, sand, snow, and rough ground.

While not amphibious itself, it was designed to be towed confidently in demanding operational environments.

In service with the British Army and other operators, the Stalwart and its limber were commonly seen in logistics, engineering, and support units from the 1960s onwards.

The combination provided impressive load-carrying capacity and versatility, particularly in areas with limited infrastructure.

Short Description	Looking like a vehicle you might expect to see emerging from the pod beneath Gerry Anderson’s Thunderbird 2, rather than a high-mobility load-carrier for the British Army, the Alvis Stalwart Mk.2 earned a go-anywhere, fear-nothing reputation during its 30-year service career. A fully amphibious vehicle, this particular variant was equipped with a powerful Atlas loader crane, designed specifically to transport and deliver ammunition for the British Army’s FV433 Abbott self-propelled gun, with each Abbott being assigned its own Stalwart for support. At its shortest extension, the Atlas loading arm could lift a load of three tons, reducing to just less than half that at its maximum four metre extension.
