The De Havilland Vampire FB.5/FB.9 was a British fighter-bomber aircraft that was developed in the late 1940s.

It was an upgraded version of the earlier Vampire fighter, which had entered service with the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 1945.

The Vampire FB.5/FB.9 was a single-engine, jet-powered aircraft with a crew of one or two, depending on the variant.

It was armed with four 20mm Hispano cannons and could carry up to 2,000 pounds of bombs or rockets on external hardpoints.

The aircraft was powered by a De Havilland Goblin turbojet engine, which gave it a top speed of around 550 miles per hour and a range of up to 800 miles.

It was highly manoeuvrable and had excellent low-altitude performance, making it well-suited for ground attack and close air support missions.

The Vampire FB.5/FB.9 saw service with the RAF, as well as with several other air forces around the world.

It was used in a variety of roles, including ground attack, reconnaissance, and fighter escort.

The aircraft played a significant role in the early stages of the Korean War, where it was used for ground attack missions against North Korean and Chinese targets.

It also saw action in several other conflicts, including the Suez Crisis and the Malayan Emergency.
