The Messerschmitt Bf-110E/E-2 TROP was a twin-engine fighter-bomber aircraft used by the German Luftwaffe during World War II.
It was introduced in 1941 and was an upgraded version of the earlier Bf-110 model.
The Bf-110E/E-2 TROP was designed as a long-range fighter-bomber with a range of up to 1,500 miles. It was equipped with two Daimler-Benz DB 601 engines that provided a top speed of over 350 mph.
The aircraft was armed with a variety of weapons, including two 20mm MG FF cannons and four 7.92mm MG 17 machine guns.
The TROP variant of the Bf-110E/E-2 was designed for use in tropical climates and featured several modifications to make it more suitable for these conditions.
These modifications included improved engine cooling, sand filters to prevent damage to the engines from dust and sand, and a different canopy design to provide better ventilation for the crew.
The Bf-110E/E-2 TROP was used extensively by the Luftwaffe in the Mediterranean and North African theaters of the war.
Although it was initially successful, it was eventually outmatched by newer Allied aircraft and suffered heavy losses.
Overall, the Messerschmitt Bf-110E/E-2 TROP was a significant and innovative aircraft that played an important role in the early stages of World War II.
Its long range and heavy firepower made it a formidable opponent, although it was ultimately unable to compete with newer and more advanced Allied aircraft.
