Airfix 1/72 Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 "Gina" & Hawker Hurricane Mk.I - Twin Pack # 40002
The Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 “Gina” & Hawker Hurricane Mk.I pairing brings together two legendary aircraft that represent more than eighty years of Royal Air Force fighter development.
From the piston-engine fighters that defended Britain during the Second World War to the advanced multirole combat aircraft protecting modern airspace, this combination highlights the remarkable evolution of military aviation.
The Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4, nicknamed “Gina,” is one of the most capable multirole fighters in service today.
Operated by the Royal Air Force, the FGR.4 variant is designed for both air superiority and ground-attack missions.
Powered by twin Eurojet EJ200 engines, the Typhoon delivers exceptional speed, agility, and climb performance.
Its advanced radar, sensors, and weapons systems allow it to engage threats at long range while maintaining outstanding manoeuvrability in close combat.
The aircraft has been widely deployed on NATO operations and air policing missions, making it a cornerstone of modern European air defence.
In contrast, the Hawker Hurricane Mk.I represents one of the most important fighters of the early Second World War.
Introduced in the late 1930s, the Hurricane formed the backbone of RAF Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain in 1940.
While often overshadowed by the more famous Spitfire, the Hurricane was responsible for the majority of German aircraft shot down during the battle.
Rugged, reliable, and heavily armed with eight .303 Browning machine guns, it proved highly effective against enemy bombers and fighters alike.
Its sturdy design also allowed it to operate from rough airfields and endure significant combat damage.
Together, the Typhoon FGR.4 and Hurricane Mk.I symbolise the enduring strength and heritage of the Royal Air Force.
From the desperate defence of Britain’s skies in 1940 to today’s high-tech air combat capabilities, these two aircraft showcase the extraordinary progress of fighter design and the continuing legacy of RAF aviation excellence.

| Short Description | This remarkable 1:72 scale dual kit unites two iconic RAF aircraft from distinct periods - the contemporary Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 'GINA' with its eye-catching Battle of Britain tribute livery, and the legendary Hawker Hurricane Mk.I that inspired it. Comprising 97 parts and rated at Skill Level 2, this set is ideal for modellers aged 8 and up, offering a rewarding build that honours 75 years of RAF legacy. The Typhoon features a unique paint scheme celebrating Flight Lieutenant James Brindley Nicolson's Victoria Cross-winning Hurricane from No.249 Squadron, forging a striking visual connection between the pinnacle of Fighter Command and the RAF's state-of-the-art multi-role jet. Key Features History One of the RAF's advanced Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 jets was unveiled with a striking new paint job, inspired by a renowned Fighter Command aircraft from 1940. This sophisticated multi-role jet was adorned with a paint scheme reminiscent of the Hawker Hurricane Mk.I piloted by Flight Lieutenant James Brindley Nicolson on 16th August 1940, the day his valiant actions in battle earned him a Victoria Cross - the sole VC awarded to a Fighter Command pilot throughout the war. Nicolson's Hurricane from RAF No.249 Squadron caught fire after an attack by a Messerschmitt Bf 109, yet he remained in the cockpit to pursue an attack on a Bf 110 'Destroyer' that crossed his path, even as flames surrounded him. Nicolson eventually parachuted to safety and returned to flying after a period of recovery. Displaying the typically grey Eurofighter Typhoon in Battle of Britain era camouflage was a brilliant move by the RAF, and during the summer display season, it became the most admired aircraft in the Royal Air Force fleet. Enthusiasts affectionately named it 'GINA', after the fuselage code letters, and it remains one of the most visually appealing Typhoon jets in RAF history. Now you can construct 'GINA' and the aircraft that inspired its design in 1:72 scale, offering endless modelling enjoyment. BAE SYSTEMS is a registered trade mark of BAE Systems plc. |
