The Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate was a single-seat fighter aircraft used by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service during World War II.

Towards the end of the war, the Japanese military formed Special Attack Squadrons, commonly known as Kamikaze units, that used aircraft like the Ki-84 Hayate for suicide attacks on enemy targets.

The Ki-84 Hayate was known for its speed, agility, and firepower, and was considered one of the most advanced Japanese fighter aircraft of its time.

The aircraft was heavily armed with two 20mm cannons and two 12.7mm machine guns, making it a formidable opponent in air-to-air combat.

The Special Attack Squadrons were made up of highly trained pilots who volunteered for suicide missions, often targeting Allied ships and airfields.

These attacks were carried out in the later stages of the war as Japan struggled to maintain its military strength against the overwhelming firepower of Allied forces.

The Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate Special Attack Squadrons were a testament to the extreme measures taken by Japan in its effort to resist the Allied advance in the Pacific theater of World War II.

Today, the Ki-84 Hayate remains a popular subject for aviation enthusiasts and model builders alike.
