The Heinkel He-162S-2 was a trainer variant of the German World War II jet-powered fighter aircraft, the Heinkel He-162 Volksjäger. The He-162S-2 was designed to train pilots for the He-162 Volksjäger, which was a relatively advanced aircraft for its time and required specialized training.
The He-162S-2 was essentially a modified version of the He-162A-2 fighter, with the removal of the aircraft's armament and the installation of a second cockpit in its place. The trainer variant was also equipped with dual flight controls, allowing the instructor to take control of the aircraft if necessary.
Despite its intended role as a trainer, the He-162S-2 was never widely used due to the chaotic state of Germany's war effort during the latter stages of World War II. The He-162 Volksjäger program suffered from numerous technical problems, and only a handful of the aircraft were actually produced before the war ended.
Today, the He-162S-2 is a rare and highly sought-after aircraft among collectors and aviation enthusiasts. There are only a few surviving examples of the aircraft, many of which are in museums or private collections.
