The Messerschmitt Bf 109D, known as the 'Dora', was an early production variant of the iconic German fighter aircraft used just before and during the early stages of World War II.

Equipped with a Jumo 210 engine and armed with machine guns, the Bf 109D served primarily with the Luftwaffe in training and front-line roles until more powerful variants appeared.

Though quickly superseded by the Bf 109E, the 'Dora' helped refine the design and tactics that would make the Bf 109 one of the most successful fighters of the war.
