The Curtiss P-40C Warhawk was a single-seat fighter aircraft that was used primarily by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) during World War II.
It was designed and built by the Curtiss-Wright Corporation and first flew in 1938.
The P-40C was the third production variant of the Warhawk and featured a more powerful engine than its predecessors.
It was armed with six .50 caliber machine guns and could carry up to 500 pounds of bombs or a single 100-gallon drop tank.
It was also equipped with armor protection for the pilot and self-sealing fuel tanks for added safety.
The P-40C saw combat in several theaters of World War II, including the Pacific, North Africa, and China.
It was known for its ruggedness and durability, but was considered by some to be outmatched by more advanced enemy fighters like the Japanese Zero.
Overall, the P-40C Warhawk was an important fighter in the early stages of World War II and played a significant role in the Allied effort.
