Dragon 1/35 Pz.Kpfw.VI Ausf.E Tiger I Early Production Battle of Kharkov # 6950
The Pz.Kpfw.VI Ausf.E Tiger I was a heavy German tank used during World War II.
The "Pz.Kpfw" designation stands for "Panzerkampfwagen," which translates to "armoured fighting vehicle" in English.
The Tiger I was one of Germany's most feared tanks, with thick armour and a powerful 88mm gun that could penetrate the armour of most Allied tanks at long ranges.
The Early Production version was the first iteration of the Tiger I, which saw combat during the Battle of Kharkov in 1943.
The Battle of Kharkov was a major engagement between German and Soviet forces on the Eastern Front of World War II.
The battle began on February 19, 1943, when German forces launched a surprise attack on Soviet forces around the city of Kharkov in Ukraine.
During the battle, the Tiger I played a key role in the German offensive, with its thick armour and powerful gun allowing it to destroy numerous Soviet tanks at long ranges.
However, the Tiger I also had its weaknesses, including its slow speed and high fuel consumption.
Despite these limitations, the Tiger I remained a formidable opponent on the battlefield and was feared by Allied tank crews.
Its reputation as one of the most powerful tanks of the war was well-deserved, and it remains an iconic symbol of German armoured might during World War II.
In summary, the Pz.Kpfw.VI Ausf.E Tiger I Early Production was a heavy German tank used during World War II, which saw combat during the Battle of Kharkov in 1943.
Its thick armor and powerful 88mm gun made it a formidable opponent on the battlefield and a feared adversary by Allied tank crews.
The Battle of Kharkov commenced just a month after the German 6th Army surrendered in Stalingrad, so it came at a pivotal time on the Eastern Front.
Tiger I tanks were involved in the heavy fighting, and each tank had its own distinctive appearance due to slight variations in stowage bins, OVM positions, markings and paint schemes.
This specific kit allows a mighty Tiger I Early Production from either the elite Das Reich Division to be assembled or alternatively a vehicle from the equally famous Grodeutschland Division. Both of these powerful units were engaged in the third Battle of Kharkov.
Importantly, Tiger I expert David Byrden has provided technical assistance for the development of this kit to ensure the utmost accuracy, including markings and suggested camouflage schemes drawn by himself.
The kit makes use of tried-and-true parts from previous Tiger I releases, but there are brand-new components too where appropriate.
Furthermore, enclosed in the box is a generous selection of photo-etched parts for finer details such as engine mesh grills and brackets.
These Tiger I Early-Production tanks are ready to foray into the Russian city of Kharkov to refight the battle of 1943 straight from the box!
