The USS Independence (CVL-22) was the lead ship of the U.S. Navy’s Independence-class light aircraft carriers—fast, compact carriers created by converting Cleveland-class cruiser hulls to meet urgent wartime needs. Commissioned in 1943, Independence served with distinction across the Pacific, providing vital air cover and strike capability during key operations of World War II.
This 1/350 scale kit from Dragon Models delivers an impressive, highly detailed representation of this historically important carrier. Designed for experienced ship modellers, it captures the unique proportions of the CVL class while offering refined surface detail and accurate deck features.

Historical Notes
Converted from a cruiser hull, Independence combined cruiser speed with carrier capability, allowing her to operate alongside fleet carriers. She took part in major Pacific actions before being damaged by air attack in 1944, later returning to service and ultimately surviving the war.
