The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII was a British single-seat fighter aircraft that saw service during World War II. It was an improved version of the iconic Spitfire, featuring a more powerful engine and increased range, making it well-suited for long-range missions.
The Mk.VIII was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin 66 engine, which provided 1,720 horsepower and gave the aircraft a top speed of around 400 miles per hour. It was armed with four 20mm Hispano-Suiza cannons and four .303-inch Browning machine guns, making it a formidable fighter in air-to-air combat.
In addition to its combat capabilities, the Spitfire Mk.VIII was also used for reconnaissance and ground-attack missions, thanks to its ability to carry bombs and cameras.
