The BTR-4E is an armored personnel carrier (APC) produced by Ukraine's state-owned defense company, Ukroboronprom. It is a modern and versatile vehicle designed for a range of combat and support missions. The BTR-4E APC can be equipped with slat armor, which is an additional layer of protection added to the vehicle.
Slat armor is a type of passive armor that consists of metal or composite strips or bars arranged in a grid pattern. These strips or bars are designed to disrupt the trajectory of incoming projectiles such as rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) by causing them to detonate prematurely or deflect them away from the vehicle's main structure. Slat armor provides enhanced protection against anti-tank weapons, particularly those with shaped charge warheads.
