Italeri 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf-110C-3/C-4 Zerstorer # 0049
Alongside the Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter and the Junkers Ju-87 Stuka dive bomber, the Messerschmitt Bf 110 Zerstorer is considered one of the symbols of the Luftwaffe during the Second World War.
The Messerschmitt's heavy multi-role twin-engine fighter was extensively employed by the German air force during the war and, in its various versions, used to fulfill several operational roles: interceptor, fighter-bomber, reconnaissance, anti-ship aircraft, and night fighter.
Its two Daimler-Benz DB 601 engines, capable of delivering 1200 hp, allowed the heavy fighter to reach a maximum speed of 560 km/h. Versions C and D were widely deployed on all fronts from the early stages of the war.
Heavily armed with two 20mm cannons, four 7.92mm machine guns, and a rear machine gun for self-defense, it could carry bombs or additional fuel tanks under the wings to increase its operational range.

| Short Description | The Messerschmitt Bf 110C-3/C-4 Zerstörer (Destroyer) is a German twin-engine heavy fighter used during World War II. Part of the Bf 110 series, the C-3 and C-4 variants were designed for long-range escort and ground attack missions. They featured two Daimler-Benz DB 601A engines, which provided a top speed of around 560 km/h (348 mph). The Bf 110C-3/C-4 was armed with an impressive array of weapons, including two 20 mm MG FF/M cannons, four 7.92 mm MG 17 machine guns, and a rear-mounted MG 15 for defensive purposes. The C-4 variant was equipped with additional armor for the cockpit, enhancing its survivability in combat. Despite its strong armament and versatility, the Bf 110 faced challenges against more agile single-engine fighters. However, it found success in roles such as bomber escort, ground attack, and night fighting, contributing significantly to Luftwaffe operations in the early years of the war. |
