The Airco DH-9A was a British single-engine biplane bomber that saw service during and after World War I.

Over Iraq, it was primarily used by British forces during the Mesopotamian campaign of World War I, as well as during the post-war occupation of Iraq.

The DH-9A was powered by a 400 horsepower engine, and had a maximum speed of 123 miles per hour. It had a crew of two, with a pilot and observer/navigator.

The aircraft was armed with two forward-facing .303 inch Vickers machine guns, and was capable of carrying up to 500 pounds of bombs.

During the Mesopotamian campaign, the DH-9A was used by British forces to support ground troops and conduct bombing missions against Ottoman forces.

In particular, the aircraft played a key role in the Battle of Sharqat in 1918, where it was used to attack Ottoman positions and disrupt enemy communications.

Following the end of World War I, British forces continued to use the DH-9A in Iraq as part of the occupation forces.

The aircraft was used for reconnaissance, as well as for occasional bombing missions against insurgent forces.

Overall, the DH-9A played an important role in British military operations over Iraq during and after World War I, and helped to establish the use of air power in modern warfare.
