The De Havilland DH-82A Tiger Moth Mk.II 'Royal Navy' was a variant of the iconic biplane trainer aircraft developed during the interwar period.
Originally designed by Geoffrey de Havilland's company, the Tiger Moth gained widespread popularity as a primary trainer for pilots in various air forces around the world.
The 'Royal Navy' variant of the Tiger Moth was specifically adapted for use by the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm.
While sharing many characteristics with the standard Tiger Moth, including its tandem-seat open cockpit design and fabric-covered biplane structure, the Royal Navy variant featured modifications tailored to naval aviation requirements.
These modifications often included strengthened undercarriages for carrier landings, as well as additional navigation and communication equipment suitable for maritime operations.
Despite its primary role as a trainer aircraft, the Tiger Moth 'Royal Navy' was also utilized for reconnaissance and liaison duties by naval air arms.
Throughout its service with the Royal Navy, the Tiger Moth Mk.II proved to be a reliable and effective platform for training naval aviators, providing them with essential skills for operating from aircraft carriers and conducting maritime missions.
