The LVG C.VI was a German two-seat reconnaissance and light bomber aircraft that entered service in the final year of the First World War.
Developed by Luft-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (LVG), it represented the peak of German C-class reconnaissance aircraft design and was widely regarded as one of the most capable types of its category.
Powered by a reliable inline engine, the LVG C.VI offered excellent speed, good climb performance, and strong high-altitude capability—qualities that significantly improved crew survivability over the front.
Its aerodynamically refined wooden airframe, covered in fabric, gave it cleaner lines than many contemporary biplanes and allowed it to evade enemy fighters when required.
The aircraft was crewed by a pilot and an observer. The pilot operated a fixed forward-firing machine gun, while the observer manned a flexible rear gun for defence and carried out reconnaissance duties.
The LVG C.VI could also carry a small bomb load, enabling it to perform light bombing and ground-attack missions alongside its primary reconnaissance role.
Although introduced too late to have a decisive impact on the war, the LVG C.VI earned a strong reputation for performance, handling, and reliability.
Today it is remembered as one of the finest German two-seat aircraft of World War I and remains a popular subject among aviation historians and scale modellers alike.
