During World War II, the Soviet Union formed Assault Groups, which were specialized infantry units trained to conduct rapid and aggressive assaults on enemy positions. These groups were composed of highly motivated and well-trained soldiers, often equipped with submachine guns, grenades, and other close-quarters combat weapons.
Assault Groups were typically used in urban combat situations, where their ability to quickly breach enemy defenses and clear buildings made them effective in reducing enemy strongholds. They were also used in offensive operations to penetrate enemy lines and disrupt enemy rear areas.
The soldiers who served in these groups were known for their courage and determination in battle, and their sacrifices helped contribute to the Soviet Union's ultimate victory over Nazi Germany.
