The German King Tiger, or Tiger II, with the Henschel turret, stands as one of the most powerful and iconic heavy tanks of World War II.
Designed for dominance, this steel beast combined heavy armor and immense firepower, making it a formidable opponent on the battlefield.
The Henschel turret variant, the most widely produced version, featured sloped armor for improved ballistic protection and mounted the fearsome 88mm KwK 43 L/71 gun — capable of knocking out Allied tanks at extreme ranges.
With up to 180mm of frontal armor and a combat weight of nearly 70 tons, the King Tiger was an engineering marvel, though mechanically complex.
Despite its limited numbers and logistical challenges, the King Tiger left a lasting legacy as a symbol of late-war German tank superiority and remains a popular subject among historians, enthusiasts, and modelers alike.
