Clad in the iconic lorica segmentata (segmented armor), with a scutum (curved rectangular shield) and gladius (short sword), the legionary was built for close-combat efficiency and tight formation fighting.
His helmet, typically of the Imperial Gallic type, offered protection without sacrificing vision or mobility.
