The German 3-ton truck 3,6-36S, often simply referred to as the "3t truck," was a cornerstone of the Wehrmacht’s logistics and transportation corps during World War II.

Designed for reliability and adaptability, this vehicle played a critical role in the German military’s motorized operations across various theaters of war, including the Eastern Front, North Africa, and Western Europe.

The designation "3,6-36S" reflects its 3.6-ton chassis and series number, while "Radkasten Normal Type" refers to its standard wheel-arch (fender) configuration, which was more common compared to the later simplified versions.

The “Normal Type” featured traditional rounded fenders and a more refined cab structure, offering better protection and comfort for the crew.

This version retained many of the pre-war civilian truck characteristics, such as full wheel wells and a relatively well-appointed cab, before wartime shortages forced the adoption of more austere, simplified designs.

Powered by a robust 6-cylinder gasoline engine, the 3,6-36S had enough torque to handle heavy loads under difficult conditions.

Its rear-wheel-drive layout and leaf spring suspension gave it decent off-road performance, although it was best suited for use on roads and prepared tracks.

The vehicle was used in a wide range of roles, including troop transport, cargo hauling, ambulance service, and as a mounting platform for communication or command units.

Due to its standardized design and widespread use, spare parts and maintenance procedures were relatively straightforward, making it a reliable workhorse for the German forces.
