The Blohm-und-Voss P.170 was a radical German fast bomber project of 1942, designed by Richard Vogt to outrun enemy fighters rather than engage them.
This unorthodox aircraft featured three powerful BMW 801D radial engines—one in the nose and one mounted at each wingtip, each with its own small vertical fin.
The crew of two sat far back in the fuselage ahead of the tailplane, giving the design a distinctive profile.
Its broad straight wing, retractable undercarriage, and clean lines promised a top speed of around 820 km/h, carrying up to 2,000 kg of bombs without defensive armament.
Intended as a high-speed strike aircraft with a range of 2,000 km, the P.170 never progressed beyond the drawing board, as attention shifted to jet-powered designs.
Despite this, it remains one of the most imaginative and unconventional Luftwaffe concepts of the Second World War.
