The combination of the Studebaker US6 truck and the 76mm ZIS-3 gun formed one of the most effective artillery and anti-tank pairings used by Soviet forces during the Second World War.
The reliable American-built Studebaker truck, supplied through the Lend-Lease programme, served as a powerful artillery tractor capable of towing the widely used ZIS-3 field gun across difficult terrain.
The ZIS-3 was a versatile 76mm weapon capable of both anti-tank and field artillery roles, valued for its reliability, ease of production, and effective firepower.
When paired with the dependable Studebaker US6, Soviet units gained a highly mobile system that could quickly deploy, engage enemy armour or infantry, and reposition as battlefield conditions changed.
This combination was widely used across the Eastern Front, where the Studebaker’s strong engine and robust design helped transport artillery and supplies under demanding combat conditions.
Together, the Studebaker truck and ZIS-3 gun became an important part of Soviet artillery operations throughout the war.
