The Tyrrell P34-2 was one of the most radical and innovative cars in Formula One history, famously featuring six wheels.

Designed by Derek Gardner and fielded by the Tyrrell team in the mid-1970s, the P34-2 used four small front wheels to reduce aerodynamic drag and improve grip, paired with conventional rear wheels.

This unique setup provided enhanced cornering performance and better braking stability.

Powered by the Ford-Cosworth DFV V8 engine, the P34-2 competed during the 1976 and 1977 F1 seasons, with its most notable success being Jody Scheckter’s victory at the 1976 Swedish Grand Prix.

Despite early promise, development limitations—especially tire supply—led to its retirement.

The Tyrrell P34-2 remains a symbol of daring engineering and out-of-the-box thinking in motorsport design.
