The Scottish regiments had served in the British army since the union of Scotland with England, so they were included in the ranks of the 8th Army. Under General Bernard Montgomery the 8th Army fought against German/ Italian units in North Africa. After initial heavy defeats, the 8th Army succeeded in forcing the German units under General Erwin Rommel to retreat at the second Battle of El Alamein and thus averted the danger that Egypt would be taken.This set includes 44 unpainted figures!
