The Harbour Fire Boat “The Firefighter” is one of the most famous and longest-serving fireboats in American maritime history.
Launched in 1938 for the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), the vessel was engineered to provide rapid, high-capacity firefighting capability across the busy waters of New York Harbor.
Built with powerful diesel engines and an advanced pumping system for its time, The Firefighter could deliver exceptional water output through multiple deck monitors — essential for tackling large shipboard fires, pier blazes, and waterfront emergencies.
Its robust steel hull and dependable machinery allowed the vessel to operate in challenging conditions, from crowded harbour channels to open waters.
