| Short Description | The Avia Ba-422 was a Czechoslovakian fighter aircraft developed during the late stages of World War II. Designed by the Avia company, the Ba-422 was intended to be an advanced fighter aircraft that could compete with contemporary Allied and Axis designs. Powered by a Jumo 213A inline engine, the Ba-422 boasted impressive performance characteristics, including high speed and agility. Its sleek aerodynamic design and advanced engineering allowed it to excel in aerial combat, making it a formidable adversary for enemy fighters. The Ba-422 was armed with a combination of machine guns and cannons, typically including two 20mm MG 151/20 cannons and two 13mm MG 131 machine guns. This armament provided the aircraft with significant firepower to engage enemy aircraft effectively. Despite its promising design and capabilities, the Ba-422 never entered mass production, with only a small number of prototypes built before the end of World War II. The aircraft did not see combat, and its development was halted following the German occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1945. Although the Avia Ba-422 did not achieve the widespread use and recognition of other fighter aircraft of the era, its innovative design and advanced features contributed to the evolution of Czechoslovakian aviation technology during World War II. |
