During World War II, Germany created a number of tank types.
Germany deployed a variety of captured and foreign-built tanks in addition to local designs.
Tanks were an integral aspect of the Wehrmacht and played a significant role throughout the war, particularly in the blitzkrieg fighting strategy.
German tanks proved to be adaptive and effective competitors to the Allies in the future more problematic and extended wars.
Even when the Allies were able to outperform the earlier German tanks in battle, they still had to contend with the German tank crews' experience and skills, as well as the most powerful and technologically advanced later tanks, such as the Panther, Tiger I, and Tiger II, which were known to be fearsome opponents.
