The Douglas A-20G Havoc was a highly effective light attack and bomber aircraft that saw extensive combat service over both Europe and the Pacific during the Second World War.

Representing the ultimate gun-nose development of the A-20 family, the A-20G was optimised for low-level attack missions, trading a bombardier’s glazed nose for concentrated forward-firing firepower.

Powered by twin Wright R-2600 radial engines, the A-20G combined excellent speed, rugged construction, and superb handling at low altitude.

Its solid nose housed up to six .50 calibre machine guns, making it particularly lethal against ground targets, shipping, and enemy airfields.

Additional defensive armament and an internal bomb bay allowed it to carry a useful bomb load while retaining strong survivability.

In the European Theatre, the A-20G was employed primarily in fast, low-level strikes against transport, airfields, and fortified positions, often flying hazardous missions under intense enemy fire.

In the Pacific, it proved equally versatile, excelling in anti-shipping attacks, close air support, and island-hopping campaigns where speed and punch were essential.

The A-20G’s wide operational use resulted in a broad variety of camouflage schemes, markings, and weathering styles, reflecting the very different conditions of European and Pacific combat.

Its aggressive appearance and proven combat record make it a compelling subject for modellers interested in Allied attack aircraft and multi-theatre wartime service.

Short Description	The American A-20 Havoc / Boston twin-engine bombers were deployed on many battlefields of World War II. They were very successful in the Pacific. The A-20G version was equipped with large-caliber machine guns in the nose, the rear hemisphere was guarded with a gun turret with a pair of machine guns of the same caliber. This armament was used in ground attacks, along with bombs dropped from low altitude. In addition to the American ones, RAAF Bostons were also deployed in the Pacific. Australian Bostons organized popular bomb 'tea parties'. In Europe, the A-20G operated from bases in Italy and Great Britain as tactical bombers in large formations. They were mostly led by A-20Ks with a glass nose and Norden sights. After the invasion of Europe, the A-20G also operated from French bases. This also applies to one of the machines offered in our kits. The machine with invasion stripes was decorated with a drawing of a beauty inspired by famous Vargas. Three more aircraft operated in the Pacific. Two American ones were decorated with nose art, one with a fierce beast mouth on the nose. The last aircraft flew with No.22 Sqn. RAAF.
