The U.S. Army M911/M747 Heavy Equipment Transporter with M60A1 w/ ERA represents one of the U.S. military’s key logistics systems designed to move heavy armoured vehicles efficiently across long distances.
The transporter consists of the M911 8×6 heavy tractor truck paired with the M747 heavy equipment semi-trailer, a combination capable of hauling some of the heaviest armoured vehicles in service.
Developed to transport tanks and other large military equipment without causing excessive wear on their tracks or consuming valuable fuel, the M911/M747 system became widely used by the U.S. Army during the Cold War and beyond.
Its powerful diesel engine, multi-axle configuration, and heavy-duty trailer allowed it to move vehicles weighing over 60 tons across highways and rough terrain.
Included in this set is the M60A1 main battle tank fitted with Explosive Reactive Armour (ERA), a modernised version of the classic American tank designed to improve protection against anti-tank weapons.
The addition of ERA blocks significantly enhanced survivability against shaped-charge munitions while retaining the proven firepower and mobility of the M60 series.
Together, the heavy equipment transporter and the upgraded M60A1 illustrate the vital role of logistics and armoured warfare support vehicles in modern military operations.
