Tamiya 1/10 R/C Hornet EVO
The year 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the original release of the iconic Hornet off-road buggy!
To celebrate the milestone, Tamiya’s designers have cooked up a fun variant that is sure to please new hobbyists and veteran hobbyists alike!
New EVO Features!
- Suspension: 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension.
- Rear gearbox: Sealed gearbox with differential gear from the DT-02 chassis.
- Includes full ball bearings!
- CVA oil dampers (front & rear)
1/10 scale R/C model assembly kit
- The 0.7mm thick polycarbonate body has the same shape as the classic body from the original Hornet.
- The 2WD chassis has the same bathtub frame as the one used in the original Hornet. (Item 58336)
- While the colour scheme of the original Hornet is carried over, this kit features an updated sticker design.
- Includes 540 Brushed motor and ESC.
- Required to complete: 2-channel radio, steering servo, 7.2 volt battery with compatible charger, and Tamiya PS paints.
This R/C model assembly kit is an updated version of The Hornet, the original of which was first released in 1984.

The kit largely keeps the original Hornet’s bathtub frame and pairs it with 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension and oil dampers. It also has a sealed rear gearbox for excellent off-road dust proofing with a built-in 3-bevel differential gear for smooth cornering.
Three-piece assembly wheels are paired with front ribbed and rear high-grip spike tires. Decorate the lightweight and durable polycarbonate body with the included stickers that cover the orange and yellow color scheme, logos and car numbers.
Independent Suspenson
4-wheel independent suspension means a great off-road drive!
Double Wishbones
The double wishbone front suspension has CVA oil dampers and turnbuckle upper arms that let you fine-tune camber.
Oil Dampers
The rear also uses CVA oil dampers and turnbuckle upper arms, plus dogbone shafts.
Bathtub Underbody
The slimline ABS plastic bathtub. This is a close-up on the locking battery hatch.
Lightweight Body
The body is lightweight polycarbonate, and stickers are included for the various logos and decorations.
Mixed Tyre Set Up
Grooved front tires and rear spike tires.
Rear wheels in particular are designed for fuss-free assembly.
