This plastic tank kit requires paint and glue to complete.
During the 1960s, German army developed an anti-aircraft tank called the Flakpanzer Gepardin order to counter modern jet aircraft. The Gepardused the Leopard chassis and a specially-designed turret with two 35mm anti-aircraft guns. These guns featured a maximum firing range of 4,000m and used a belt-type ammunition feed system which enabled quick switching from high-explosive shells and armor piercing shells to allow engagement of both air and ground targets. It also featured the most advanced radar aiming system at the time. Two radars mounted at the front and rear of the turret provided 360°scanning and simultaneous target tracking. Deployment began in 1973 and approximately 400 units were used by the German army. They were also exported to the Netherlands and Belgium.
Model Features:
1/16 scale plastic assembly kit of the German Flakpanzer Gepardwhich was first released as an R/C tank in 1978 (Item 56003).
All of the R/C equipment from Item 56003 has been removed but the moveable suspension remains.
The distinctive form of the tank, including the 35mm anti-aircraft guns as well as turret-mounted radars, has been realistically reproduced.
Features realistic link type pre-assembled tracks.
Photo-etched parts to depict details such as engine grilles are included.
Modern R/C equipment such as DMD unit and drive gearboxes can be installed to convert the model into an R/C model.
