Development of the Japanese Type 75 self-propelled howitzer began in 1969. First prototype was built in 1971. This artillery system entered service with the JGSDF in 1975. Production of the Type 75 ceased in 1988 with a total of 201 howitzers built. The Type 75 was not exported, as Japan's laws do not allow to export military
