The Bristol Scout D was a British single-seat biplane aircraft used primarily as a reconnaissance and fighter aircraft during World War I. It was designed by Frank Barnwell and introduced in 1916 as an improved version of the earlier Bristol Scout C.
The Scout D was a compact and agile aircraft, with a wingspan of just 20 feet and a length of 18 feet 8 inches. It was powered by a 110-horsepower Le Rhône rotary engine, which gave it a top speed of around 96 miles per hour. The aircraft was armed with a single .303 inch Vickers machine gun mounted on the top wing and fired by the pilot using a Bowden cable.
