The Grumman J2F-2/J2F-2A Duck is a two-seat amphibious aircraft developed by the American aircraft manufacturer Grumman in the 1930s.
It was designed to serve as a utility aircraft for the US Navy, with the ability to land on water or land.
The J2F-2/J2F-2A Duck was powered by a single radial engine and featured a high wing and twin floats for stability on water.
It had a maximum speed of around 165 miles per hour and a range of approximately 600 miles.
The aircraft was armed with two .30 caliber machine guns and could carry a variety of bombs and depth charges.
During World War II, the J2F-2/J2F-2A Duck was primarily used for search and rescue missions, as well as for transporting personnel and supplies.
It also saw some action in combat, particularly in the Pacific theater. Despite being a relatively slow and vulnerable aircraft, the J2F-2/J2F-2A Duck proved to be a reliable and versatile workhorse, earning a reputation as a "flying boat" that could operate from almost any location.
