Zvezda 1/72 Junkers Ju 88G6 # 7269
The Junkers Ju 88G-6 was a variant of the versatile German World War II aircraft, the Junkers Ju 88.
Primarily designed as a medium bomber, the Ju 88 underwent various modifications to adapt to different roles, and the G-6 variant specifically served as a night fighter.
The G-6 model was developed to counter Allied bombing raids during the nocturnal hours.
Equipped with advanced radar systems, the Ju 88G-6 was optimized for night operations, enabling it to detect and intercept enemy bombers under the cover of darkness.
The aircraft had a crew of three, consisting of a pilot, a radar operator, and a gunner.
Its armament typically included heavy machine guns and cannons, making it a formidable opponent against other aircraft.
The Ju 88G-6 played a significant role in the defense of German airspace during the later stages of World War II.
Its ability to operate effectively during the night made it a valuable asset for the Luftwaffe in countering the strategic bombing campaigns conducted by the Allies.
Despite its adaptability and success in its intended role, the challenges faced by the German air force in the later years of the war, such as resource shortages and overwhelming Allied air superiority, limited the overall impact of the Ju 88G-6 on the conflict.

| Short Description | Ju-88 G6 modification was a further development of the heavy night fighter based on the Ju-88 bomber. The fighter, which was equipped with the advanced electronic equipment for target search and powerful armament which consisted of "Schraege Musik", MG 151/20 guns and MG 131 machine gun, left little chance for an enemy plane to escape. Thus during the night of 16 to 17 March 1945 in the sky over Nuremberg Erich Jung on his Ju-88 shot down 8 British bombers during a 20-minute fight. |
