At last a plastic model gift set of the Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II by the well know Airfix models.
The Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II is a fifth-generation, single-seat, single-engine stealth multirole fighter aircraft designed for vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) operations. It is the short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) variant of the F-35 family, which also includes the F-35A (conventional takeoff and landing) and F-35C (carrier-based) variants.
The F-35B is designed to operate from austere, expeditionary bases and a range of air-capable ships, including amphibious assault ships, aircraft carriers, and forward-deployed expeditionary airfields. The aircraft features advanced avionics, sensors, and weapons systems, as well as a low observable, or "stealth" design, which reduces its radar signature and makes it difficult to detect.
One of the key features of the F-35B is its ability to perform short takeoffs and vertical landings, thanks to its powerful lift fan and directed thrust nozzle, which allow it to operate from small or damaged airfields, and to land and take off from the decks of amphibious assault ships and other vessels. This capability makes the F-35B particularly well-suited for use by the US Marine Corps, which has been a major customer for the aircraft.
