The Messerschmitt Bf 109B 'Berta' was the first mass-produced version of the iconic German fighter, entering service in the mid-1930s.

Powered by the Junkers Jumo 210 engine and armed with two to three machine guns, the Bf 109B marked a significant leap in monoplane fighter design.

It saw early combat during the Spanish Civil War, where it proved superior to many contemporaries and helped establish the Bf 109's reputation.

Though quickly followed by improved variants, the 'Berta' laid the foundation for one of the most prolific fighters of World War II.
