The 7.5 cm PaK 40 (Panzerabwehrkanone 40) was the backbone of German anti-tank defenses during the mid to late stages of World War II.
Developed in response to increasingly well-armored Soviet tanks like the T-34 and KV-1, the PaK 40 entered service in 1942 and quickly proved itself as one of the most effective and widely used towed anti-tank guns of the war.
The mid/late production variants featured refinements for mass production, such as simplified construction techniques and improved materials without compromising performance.
Capable of penetrating most Allied armor at long ranges, the PaK 40 fired high-velocity 75mm rounds, including armor-piercing and high-explosive shells.
Mounted on a robust split-trail carriage with large spoked wheels, it was often deployed in defensive positions, concealed ambushes, or as a direct-fire support weapon.
Its effectiveness and versatility ensured it remained in frontline service until the war’s end, and it became one of the most feared anti-tank weapons of the German arsenal.
