The Raketenjagdpanzer Jaguar 2 was one of the West German Army’s most capable Cold War tank destroyers, designed to deliver highly accurate long-range anti-tank fire in the face of increasing Warsaw Pact armour threats.
Introduced in the late 1970s, the Jaguar 2 was an advanced upgrade of the earlier Raketenjagdpanzer 3 “Jaguar,” incorporating modern electronics and a far more powerful missile system.
Built on the reliable Hotchkiss SPz 12-3 hull, the Jaguar 2 was fitted with the cutting-edge HOT (Haut Subsonique Optiquement Téléguidé) anti-tank missile launcher, replacing the older SS.11 system.
These wire-guided HOT missiles gave the vehicle excellent range, accuracy, and armour-penetration capability, making it a formidable opponent for contemporary main battle tanks.
To support its high-tech weaponry, the Jaguar 2 received a redesigned superstructure, improved armour protection, and upgraded night-fighting optics.
Compact, agile, and easy to conceal, it excelled in ambush tactics and defensive operations — the tactical backbone of NATO doctrine during the height of the Cold War.
For modellers, the Jaguar 2 offers a striking and highly detailed subject featuring:
