The British FV18001 Mk.2 80-inch 4x4 Utility Vehicle is a light military workhorse developed to meet the British Army’s requirement for a compact, versatile, and easily maintained utility vehicle.
Closely related to early Land Rover military models, the FV18001 series became a familiar sight with British forces during the post-war period, serving in a wide range of support and liaison roles.
The Mk.2 variant incorporated incremental improvements over earlier versions, enhancing reliability and usability while retaining the simple, rugged construction that made the vehicle so dependable in the field.
Its short 80-inch wheelbase gave it excellent manoeuvrability, particularly in confined environments, rough terrain, and forward operating areas.
Fitted with a canvas roof top, this configuration provided basic weather protection while allowing for rapid removal and easy access to equipment and passengers.
The open, utilitarian layout made the FV18001 ideal for duties such as troop transport, communications, convoy escort, and general logistics support across both home and overseas deployments.
