The Focke-Wulf Fw-190A-5 represents one of the most refined and balanced variants of Germany’s famous “Butcher Bird.”
Introduced in 1943, the A-5 featured an extended engine mount that shifted the BMW 801 radial engine forward, improving balance and allowing the aircraft to carry heavier external loads without sacrificing performance.
This upgrade helped pilots tailor the airframe for fighter, fighter-bomber, or ground-attack missions with ease.
Armed with a powerful mix of 20 mm MG 151 cannons and 7.92 mm machine guns, and capable of carrying bombs or drop tanks, the A-5 was a versatile frontline aircraft that served on multiple fronts.
