The Opel Blitz Typ A 4x4 (Kfz. 305) was one of the most widely used German military transport trucks of the Second World War.

Designed as a rugged and reliable cargo vehicle, the Blitz played a vital role in supporting German forces on all fronts, transporting troops, ammunition, fuel and supplies across long distances and often extremely difficult terrain.

The Typ A version featured a four-wheel-drive (4x4) system, making it particularly suitable for off-road use in harsh conditions such as the muddy roads of the Eastern Front or the deserts of North Africa.

Powered by a robust Opel six-cylinder petrol engine, the vehicle could carry loads of around three tons while maintaining good mobility for a truck of its size.

Used in a wide variety of roles, the Kfz. 305 chassis also served as the basis for numerous specialised military vehicles including mobile workshops, radio trucks, ambulance variants and anti-aircraft platforms.

Its simple design, reliability and versatility made the Opel Blitz an essential logistical backbone for the German Wehrmacht throughout the war.

Today, the Opel Blitz Typ A 4x4 remains one of the most recognisable military trucks of the period and a popular subject for scale modellers, representing the indispensable transport vehicles that supported military operations behind the front lines.
