The Douglas Skyraider was built just after the Second World War. Despite its traditional piston engine, born when the first jets were already spread, the Skyraider had an extraordinary operational longevity.
The first flight was made in 1945 and was withdrawn from the active service only in 1975.
It participated in numerous conflicts demonstrating its validity in Korea and Vietnam.
Characterized by a great maneuverability at low speed, it was able to carry an impressive war load above 3.500 kg.
Optimized for ground attack missions it was equipped with a robust armor to minimize the damage of enemy fire from the ground.
The Skyrider A-1H, thanks to its powerful 2,700 HP radial engine, could fly at 322 mph and transport a wide variety of weaponry.
