The Yakovlev Yak-3 'Aces' refers to a variant or group of Yak-3 fighter aircraft that were flown by some of the most successful Soviet fighter pilots during World War II.
The Yak-3, renowned for its exceptional performance and agility, attracted many top pilots who achieved high kill counts and earned the title of "ace."
As one of the finest fighters of the war, the Yak-3 was particularly favored by experienced pilots due to its superior speed, maneuverability, and firepower.
Its lightweight airframe, powered by a potent Klimov VK-105PF engine, enabled it to outperform many of its contemporaries in dogfights.
Equipped with a combination of cannon and machine guns, the Yak-3 'Aces' variant typically featured a 20mm ShVAK cannon firing through the propeller hub and two 12.7mm Berezin UBS machine guns mounted in the wings.
