The U.S. Armored Bulldozer was a specialized engineering vehicle used by the U.S. Army during World War II.
It was a heavily armored variant of the standard bulldozer and was designed to clear obstacles, construct defensive positions, and breach enemy fortifications.
The M1 Bulldozer was the first armored bulldozer developed by the U.S. Army during the war, and it was later replaced by the M9 Bulldozer, which had improved armor protection.
The M1 Bulldozer was used extensively during the North African and Italian campaigns, as well as during the Normandy Invasion in 1944.
It played a significant role in clearing obstacles and creating paths for advancing troops and vehicles.
The M1 Bulldozer had a crew of four and was armed with a .30 caliber machine gun for self-defense.
It was powered by a 110 horsepower gasoline engine and had a top speed of approximately 3.5 miles per hour.
The vehicle's armor protection consisted of 1.5-2 inches of steel plating and was resistant to small arms fire and shrapnel.
Its bulldozer blade could be fitted with a variety of attachments, such as rippers, root plows, and shears, which made it highly versatile on the battlefield.
The U.S. Armored Bulldozer was an important asset for the U.S. Army during World War II and played a critical role in the success of many Allied operations.
