The P-47D-10RE Thunderbolt was a formidable variant of the Republic P-47 series, one of the heaviest and most robust single-engine fighters of World War II.
Nicknamed the “Jug,” the P-47D-10RE featured a powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine, delivering exceptional high-altitude performance and durability in combat.
This block introduced a water-injection system that boosted engine output, significantly improving acceleration and climb rate—crucial in both air superiority and ground attack roles.
Armed with eight .50 caliber machine guns and capable of carrying bombs or rockets, the Thunderbolt became a fearsome fighter-bomber, delivering punishing strikes on Axis targets across Europe and the Pacific.
Renowned for its ability to absorb heavy damage and still bring pilots home, the P-47D-10RE combined brute strength, firepower, and reliability.
It played a vital role in escorting bombers deep into enemy territory and unleashing devastating close-support missions during the Allied advance.
