The Lockheed L-1049G Super Constellation is one of the most elegant and recognisable airliners of the golden age of aviation.
Introduced in the 1950s, the “Super Connie” combined long-range capability with graceful triple-fin styling and smooth, reliable performance, becoming a symbol of luxury transatlantic travel.
Lufthansa operated the L-1049G during a transformative period in its post-war history, using the aircraft on flagship European and intercontinental routes.
Powered by four Wright R-3350 Duplex-Cyclone radial engines, the Super Constellation offered excellent range and comfort, with pressurisation, refined interiors, and a reputation for exceptional reliability.
The “100 Years” livery celebrates a century of Lufthansa’s aviation legacy, honouring both the airline’s historic fleet and its role in shaping global air travel.
