The M128A1 Heavy Guns Carrier (HGC) is a specialised variant of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) developed for the United States Marine Corps to provide highly mobile, protected heavy-weapons support for expeditionary and forward-deployed units.
Designed to replace up-armoured HMMWVs, the JLTV family offers significantly improved protection, mobility, and payload capacity in modern combat environments.
The M128A1 HGC is configured to carry heavy crew-served weapons, typically mounted on a roof weapon station, enabling effective engagement of infantry, light vehicles, and low-flying aerial threats.
Its open rear cargo area allows flexible carriage of ammunition, equipment, and mission-specific systems, supporting the Marine Corps’ emphasis on rapid deployment and adaptability.
Built on a robust 4×4 chassis, the JLTV combines high off-road performance with advanced protection against small-arms fire, mines, and improvised explosive devices.
